FedEx officials and staff joined Arlington leaders and community members Wednesday, Oct. 9, to cut the ribbon on a new 320,000 square-foot distribution center.

The center is located off east Bardin road, near Interstate 20 and New York Avenue. There are currently 350 employees on-site, and FedEx says more will be added as business grows.

The distribution center is the final stop before your packages are loaded onto a truck and delivered to your home or office. It is also where outgoing packages are taken before being sent to larger hubs.

The Arlington distribution center has capacity to load 73 trucks at once.

It is also equipped with sorting technology new to FedEx. On average, packages in the Arlington distribution center travel 540 feet a minute.

The center serves the area between Bedford and Grandview, to the north and south, and Kennedale and Cedar Hill, from the west to east.
