The Novacek’s and Cowboy Cheerleader’s huddled up a lot of excitement and scored victoriously when interacting with and enriching the lives of the shelter animals and those in attendance on the special day.

Mayor Jeff Williams and council member Sheri Capehart attended the event and the animal loving Novacek’s shared wonderful stories of their passionate involvement helping individuals gain independence through their specialized service dogs. Learn more at #Novaceks84Labradoodles.

Arlington Animal Services and Advent Lutheran Church volunteers touched virtually every quarter of the shelter, as personal shoppers assisting adopters looking for a furry friend, washing animals and fleet vehicles, spraying paint to color code animal traps, bonding and having interactive playtime activities with adoptable pets, and more during this tremendous volunteer team effort.

Girl Scout Troop 2163 were educated by Animal Services senior Golden PAWS volunteers and their leaders as they learned how to make homemade blankets and toys for the shelter animals. Hayden Geick described a Bronze award she was working to achieve. Other troop members volunteered time and community service reading stories to animals and participating in other activities at the shelter’s Hometown Huddle event.

A victory bell rang out through the center’s adoption mall as each of the 14 animal adoptions occurred – a total of eight dogs and six cats found forever homes.

The National Hometown Huddle for 100 celebrated the National Football League’s 100th season. The goal was to get 1 million people across the country to donate 100 minutes of time to a local cause in communities football fans call home. Go Cowboys!

Special appreciation to the Novacek’s, the Dallas Cowboys Organization and Cheerleaders, Advent Lutheran Church, Girl Scout Troop #2163, Mayor Williams and Council member Capehart, and every organization and individual that participated Hometown Huddle for 100 making this a winning team event.

“This was one of the most exciting days of the year,” said Animal Services Manager Chris Huff. “It was a rewarding experience to be a part of such an awesome event.”
