Attention all Arlington dog owners! Voting for the North Central Texas Council of Governments’ 2020 “Doo the Right Thing” Dog Calendar is now open.

Arlington is among 31 cities in the DFW Metroplex that have asked its residents to take the Doo the Right Thing pledge and submit their dogs’ photos. The contest is a way to promote responsible pet ownership and a healthy environment by educating residents about picking up after their pets.

Arlington residents can now vote on which photos should be placed in the calendar. Show your support by visiting www.dfwstormwater.com/petwaste to cast your vote before the Friday, Aug. 16 deadline.

Residents should always carry a plastic bag when walking your dog. Pet waste is not only smelly and unsightly, but it is a health risk to pets and people and can cause water quality issues in our local streams. Remember to scoop up the waste and dispose of the bag in the trash. Visit www.arlingtontx.gov/city_hall/departments/stormwater_management/stormwater_education/stormwater_pollution_prevention for more information about pet waste and its effects on our local waterways.

If you are interested in learning more about Responsible Pet Ownership, Come to the Animal Services’ Responsible Pet Ownership fair on Aug. 17 at the Animal Services Center at 950 SE Green Oaks Blvd.
