the City is holding an open house on Thursday, November 12, 2015 for residents living in the Ditto Creek and Crystal Canyon Creek area to discuss the Lower Trinity River Tributary watershed study.

City Staff will be available between 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 1601 NE Green Oaks Boulevard.

This open house is a way for residents to communicate their flooding or drainage issues to the city's stormwater management staff and for the staff to provide information on the upcoming watershed study in the Lower Trinity watershed.

The purpose of the Lower Trinity Tributaries Watershed study is to comprehensively evaluate the creeks in this area for flooding and erosion issues. Your knowledge as a resident of the historical flooding or erosion problems in this area is crucial to making the study accurate. It is the goal of this study to revise the FEMA floodplain maps so that flood risks are better defined, reduce the level of flooding by conceptually developing capital projects, and to assess the erosion along these creeks.

A watershed is an area of land that catches rain and drains it to creeks, rivers and lakes. Ditto Creek and Crystal Canyon Creek are part of the Lower Trinity River Watershed. Any resident that lives adjacent to or nearby any creek has the potential for flooding and this study is to help evaluate that flood risk and better inform our residents of the ways in which they can protect their families and their property. Information concerning flood insurance, personal safety and property protection will be available.

Any pictures or information about the depth of water during past floods will be invaluable to the success of this study. If you have any questions, please contact the Project Manager, Amy Cannon, at 817-459-6555.
