This year's Clear the Shelters event is on Saturday, August 18.

Arlington Animal Services wants to adopt every single pet this year at Clear the Shelters Day.

Since 2014, Animal Services has participated each year, and waived adoption fees for a total of 342 pets at this annual event. One year there was one last dog remaining, but that dog ended up being successfully adopted, giving the shelter a 100 percent success rate for clearing its shelter on this special day.

Looking for a new best friend? At this moment, in addition to dogs and cats, Animal Services even has bunnies available for adoption. Availability may change as Clear the Shelters Day approaches. Make plans to attend on Saturday, August 18, between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Animal Services is located at 1000 S.E. Green Oaks Boulevard, 76018.

Celebrate the adoption of your new forever friend at Animal Services with a personal keepsake photo of you with your newly adopted pet by professional photographer Roderick Cordova with Roderick Cordova Photography. Cordova will be set-up at the shelter to provide a free photo of each adoptive pet parent/family with their new family member. Adoptions are limited to two animals per household at this event.

Golden PAWS will be at Clear the Shelters day with their handmade treasures available by donation. Items include homemade pet bandanas, blankets and toys. The handcrafted gifts are sure to make your pet smile!

Interested in adopting a cat, and not able to make it to Animal Services for Clear the Shelter Day? All adoptable cats at PetSmart at Arlington Highlands will also have adoption fees waived on August 18.

Each free pet will be suited for their new home receiving the following complimentary services -

  • Spay or neuter
  • City License
  • Core vaccines
  • Rabies vaccine
  • Microchip
  • Heartworm test for Dogs
  • FELEUK/FIV test for Cats
  • Free pet insurance for the first 30 days

This is a great day to adopt! Hundreds of shelters across the country participate annually in Clear the Shelters day to find loving homes for animals in need. Special appreciation to this year's shelter sponsors, volunteers, and all that choose to adopt.
