The College Football Playoff committee has announced that #2 Alabama and #3 Michigan State will matchup for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on December 31, 2015 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

On Saturday, December 5, 2015, Alabama defeated Florida, 29-15 to win the SEC Championship. Michigan State came back late to win a close game against Iowa, 16-13, to win the Big Ten Championship game.

The 80th Cotton Bowl Classic will serve as the College Football Playoff Semifinal game and kickoff will be at 7 p.m. on New Year' s Eve. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Since making the move to AT&T Stadium, the Classic has sold out each of the last six years and generated four of the top five largest crowds in the 79-year history of the Cotton Bowl. The attendance record occurred when Ole Miss defeated Texas Tech in front of 88,175 fans at the final Classic in Cotton Bowl Stadium in 2009.

The game will mark a return trip to the Cotton Bowl for Michigan State. Last season' s Cotton Bowl Classic in Arlington saw the Spartans score three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat the Baylor Bears 42-41, in the highest-scoring Cotton Bowl ever.

The American Dream City also hosted the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship at AT&T Stadium on January 12, 2015.
