The Native American Student Association will host its 21st Annual Scholarship Benefit POWWOW later this month at the University of Texas at Arlington.

The event will be held 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 in the E.H. Hereford University Center Bluebonnet Ballroom, 300 W. First St. Admission is free and open to the public.

Highlights from the powwow include traditional drumming, dancers, storytellers, singers, art and a film screenings.

"I hope that everyone that attends the Powwow will have a great time and leave with a better understanding of the Powwow dance culture," Vice President of NASA and POWWOW Committee Chairman Harold Rogers said in a UT Arlington news release.

Michael Burgess, president of Pawnee Nation College in Pawnee, Okla., will serve as master of ceremonies. In addition to a tribute and ceremonial prayer for Native warriors and all military service people, the Powwow will honor the life and contributions of the late Dr. Rodney Stapp, a member of the Comanche Nation and former chief executive officer of Dallas' Urban Inter-Tribal Center.
