The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early this morning. Shortly after midnight on Saturday, March 3, 2012, an Arlington Police Officer arrived on the scene of a vehicle crash in the 900 block of E. Sublett Road near Twin Maple Drive. Early into the investigation, it appears that a dark-colored, four-door car was traveling eastbound on Sublett, lost control, and struck a wooden utility pole.

A fire started near the front of the car after the crash. Officers were unable to pull the person out of the vehicle. One person was deceased inside the car and was the only occupant. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will release the name of the victim once the identity of the crash victim has been established and next of kin notifications have been made. At this point, based upon roadway evidence and a witness account, investigators believe that speed was a possible factor in this crash.

This is the third traffic fatality in Arlington this year.
