Kie Lancaster, senior for Lamar High School's baseball team, has been selected as the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month for May 2017.

As both a position player and number one starting pitcher, Lamar head coach Paul Kino has relied on Kie's leadership on the field and never doubts his ability in the classroom.

"When I check grades, there's never ever going to be a surprise with Kie. He's straight A's,"Kino said. "Whatever he chooses to do, he has that makeup. He's going to be a success in life. He's an incredible young man and he's going to make our world a better place."

Kie's favorite subject at Lamar High School is history, but he will major in biology this fall at the University of Texas at Austin. After four years as an undergraduate, Kie dreams of applying to medical school and becoming a doctor.
