Teen Tech Week Maker Competition

Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to bring their friends and ideas to solve challenges and create something TECH-tacular this Saturday at the East Arlington Branch Library from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm! The Maker Competition will have teams competing in a series of challenges using tools such including Littlebits, Makey Makey Kits, recycled materials, art, robotics, and more. Teens and students in grades 6-12 can register to compete. Teams are required to consist of two or more participants. Grand Prize Winners of the competition will star in a video showcasing makers and their creations for the Youth Technology Centers and receive awards and a pizza party.

The Write Stuff with CJ Critt

Motivate your muse and improve your writing skills with this free workshop at the Southwest Branch Library this Saturday, March 12 designed to kick your book, screenplay, or memoirs into high gear. C.J. Critt is a writer, performer, and the voice of many beloved characters in your favorite audiobooks, including Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum. C.J. will offer writing prompts to get the pens flying and will encourage everyone to share their newly created works. The Write Stuff celebrates the signature voice and unique stories that everyone has collected in a lifetime of experience. The workshop takes place from 1-4 p.m.

AISD Youth Art Month at Arlington Museum of Art

The subject of the most recent episode of Culture Buzz, Arlington ISD Youth Art Month is now on display at the Arlington Museum of Art in Downtown! Each spring, the Arlington Museum of Art works collaboratively with the Arlington Independent School District to give students the opportunity to display their pieces done in a wide variety of mediums to the general public. An opening reception is held during each two-week show to provide an opportunity for family and friends to attend and celebrate their student's artistic achievements.

UTA Softball at Allan Saxe Field

The 18-0 start to the season by the UT Arlington softball team is the best start of any sport in UTA Athletics history! The Mavs, closing a season-long eight-game road trip, return to Allan Saxe Field on Friday for the highly anticipated Maverick Classic when they host Arizona, Texas and Samford. UTA opens the tournament with the No. 24 Longhorns on Friday at 6 p.m. You can find a complete schedule for both this weekend's Maverick Classic and the rest of the 2016 season on the UTA Athletics website.

Spring Break at Six Flags Over Texas

Relieve the stress during Spring Break at Six Flags Over Texas from March 10, 2016 to March 20, 2016! It's the perfect time to let your hair down, hang out with friends and family and hop on to one of your favorite coasters! Six Flags has expanded Gotham City to include three new rides: The Riddler's Revenge, Catwoman Whip and Harley Quinn Spinsanity. Astronaut at UTA Planetarium

See what it takes to become an Astronaut and the effect space has on the human body this Sunday, March 13 at UTA Planetarium! Narrated by Ewan McGregor, experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut, explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, and discover the perils that lurk in space. This family-friendly show starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. For more information on other shows happening at the UTA Planetarium and ticket prices, please visit their website.
