Families Play Games, Enjoy Stories at Arlington Public Library Teddy Bear Carnival
With stuffed animals in hand and a helpful parent not too many steps behind, children of all ages enjoyed playing games, listening to stories and meeting new friends last Saturday morning at the Arlington Public Library's Teddy Bear Carnival.
The Southwest Branch Library lawn featured fun-filled activity stations and decorations. Participants completed puzzles and played games, such as ring toss, bean bag throw and teddy bear dress-up, for a chance to win prizes.
Although the main goal of the day's event was to get out and have a good time, Librarian Dawn Reyes said the games were also educational. She stated, "These are really focused on pre-schoolers and getting ready for kindergarten,"Reyes said. "We have the games that help them with colors, and shapes and sizes. And then of course we have the storytime for the literacy component, as well as projects that are stimulating and help develop fine motor skills."
Other activities included a guided wagon tour amongst through the teddy bears that decorated the library's lawn, a community art wall and a storytime lead by one of the library's friendly and enthusiastic staff members.
