Fun Things to Do in Arlington – July 26-28

Things are heating up in Arlington this weekend, with several fun activities on tap for the entire family. Here's a look at MyArlingtonTx.com's top five events scheduled for Friday, July 26 - Sunday, July 28.

CATS Performance at Arlington High School

Thirty-three students attending the Creative Arts Theatre & School (CATS) SummerStars Camp are ready to make their CATS debut during Saturday's special presentation of "Legally Blonde The Musical" at Arlington High School, 818 W. Park Row. Performances are at 2:30 & 7:30 p.m. This fun show is free to the public and is recommended for audiences 13 and up.

Japan Otaku Day at the Central Library

Put on your favorite Cosplay threads, grab some friends and come geeked out with other Anime obsessed teens this Saturday, from 2:30-5:30 p.m., at the Central Library, 101 E. Abram Street. Watch new anime, try some delicious Asian snacks and get crafty at our Japan Day event! Registration is preferred, but not really required. Open to grades 7-12.

Mobile Pet Adoption Event

Join Arlington Animal Services this Saturday for a Mobile Pet Adoption event at PetSmart at The Arlington Highlands. Stop by for a tail-wagging, family friendly, pet-saving time. Puppies, dogs, kittens and cats looking for new homes will be available for immediate adoption.

Visit the Smithsonian Without Leaving Arlington

Spend some time visit the Arlington Museum of Art's two exhibits - Harlem Renaissance: A Celebration of Art & Culture and William H. Johnson: An American Modern, both of which close Aug. 25. See works from Jacob Lawrence, Charles White, Aaron Douglas, Richmond Barthé and William H. Johnson. Admission is 48 for adults; $5 for students and seniors (over 65); free to members and children under 12 with an adult. Purchase tickets here.

Gardening with Children

Learn tips, tricks and strategies for making gardening a family affair during this adult workshop led by the Arlington Men's Garden Club. Workshop is best suited for children ages 10 and up ONLY. Free, but space is limited. Please RSVP to 817.860.6752.
