Pentatonix with 1st Grammy

A little less than 18 months ago, Pentatonix, a five-member a cappella group featuring three Martin High School grads, performed at Levitt Pavilion in The American Dream City.

Last night, the group took home their first Grammy Award in the Arrangement, Instrumental Or A Cappella category for its medley titled "Daft Punk."

Since their 2011 win on the final season of NBC's The Sing-Off, Pentatonix has taken instrument-free music beyond anyone's expectations, selling out concerts across the country and pairing their intricate arrangements with cleverly re-imagined pop songs.

The members of the group are Avi Kaplan, Scott Hoying, Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Kevin Olusola. Hoying, Grassi and Maldonado are all Martin High School graduates.

The Grammy win is just another milestone for the group that was recently invited to sing an arrangement of "That Thing You Do" for Kennedy Center Honors inductee Tom Hanks, which aired on CBS December 30.

They even met President Barack Obama at the White House in 2014.

The group's Christmas album, That's Christmas to Me, was 2014's top selling holiday album on the Billboard charts.

Pentatonix will be making a return to trip to the DFW Metroplex on March 29, with a performance at Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX.
