GM, Arlington Commons

Two Arlington businesses were named winners Thursday night in the Dallas Business Journal' s Best Real Estate Deals of 2015.

General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant, which announced a $1.4 billion investment last year, won the Best Community Impact Deal honor.

The overhaul, one of GM' s largest single investments in a U.S. manufacturing facility, will expand the Arlington plant to more than four times the size it was when it opened more than 60 years ago.

Arlington Commons was named for the Best Suburban Multifamily Deal.

The Nehemiah Company broke ground earlier this year on the 1,328-unit Arlington Commons multifamily project on Lamar Boulevard in North Arlington. When complete, the project is expected to add $200 million to the City of Arlington property tax rolls.

The Arlington City Council has identified "Invest in Our Economy" as a vital component of the effort to ensure that our community continues to thrive. Both of these projects are signs of the progress we are making on that effort.
