Calling all Dr. Suess fans to join in a birthday celebration in honor of an iconic author!

Everyone in The American Dream City is invited to this event in which children will be able to read with UT Arlington students, enjoy Dr. Seuss arts and crafts, face paintings, puppet shows, picture opportunities and much more.

The celebration will be held at the Palo Duro Lounge at UT Arlington Campus on Saturday Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m.

The event is free, sponsored by UT Arlington volunteers, Freshman Leaders On Campus (FLOC) and the Arlington Public Library.

Arlington Library Services Manager Ivonne Kieffer says library card sign up forms will be available during the event along with flyers containing useful resources for parents.

"Kids of all ages are welcome. During the past events we have mostly seen children from K-12 grades,"said Keiffer.

One of the many tasks for FLOC members is to obtain books donated by sponsors so that kids will be able to take a book home once the event is over (while supplies last).

"Our main goal as a team is to encourage kids to read and feel free to use their imagination like Dr. Seuss illustrates in his book,"said FLOC member Mayra Ramirez.

During his lifetime, Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss wrote and illustrated over 44 children's books. Among those his most famous pieces included Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and Oh, the Places You'll Go.
