Animal loving nonprofits came out to greet the community at the 5th Annual Howl-o-ween Spooktacular sponsored by Arlington Animal Services and Sponsor Adoptions at River Legacy Park on Saturday, October 15, 2016.

The event serves as the year's largest fundraiser event for Sponsor Adoptions, a nonprofit that assists animals from the Arlington shelter with special medical needs.

The event, emceed by Mayor Pro Tem Sheri Capehart, also served as a great opportunity for families to enjoy the beautiful weather as Animal Services volunteers assisted with the event and various programs throughout the day. Spay Neuter Network was on hand to administer low-cost vaccinations and screenings for pets.

The Animal Services mobile adoption unit was also on site, finding fur-ever homes for four of the seven animals present.

Other nonprofits such as The Abandoned Ones and Operation Kindness were also in attendance with their furry friends dressed to the nines.

The event culminated in a Halloween pet parade featuring dogs dressed as superheroes and bumble bees. Children enjoyed bounce houses, face painting, and carnival type games with candy prizes.
