Did you hear that Arlington was recently ranked No. 1 on a Top 10 "Best Cities to Raise a Family" in the nation list? It's true - and we couldn't be more excited by the honor!

In this Neighborhood Network News edition, you can learn more about our parks, free community programs and city service improvements we're working on to ensure The American Dream City is a great place for families like yours to live, work, play and learn.

One thing we're doing at the City of Arlington is investing in technology to keep you better informed about what's happening where you live and to connect you with city services.

Arlington Water Utilities, for example, will now send email alerts about planned or emergency water service outages to affected customers who have an email address on file with the City. Water Utilities also has a new webpage that provides up-to-date water outage information.

Additionally, the Arlington Public Library recently launched a new automated phone system that will allow patrons to directly connect with the branch of their choice when calling the main number, 817-459-6900.

Make plans to attend Arlington's annual Aging Well Expo on March 21 at the Arlington Convention Center to learn important tips and information on topics including health, finance, housing, volunteer opportunities, travel, cyber security and much more! The keynote speaker at this year's free expo is Dave Lieber, known as The Dallas Morning News Watchdog, who will help participants become super-consumers by offering tips and secret maneuvers during his talk, "Watchdog Nation: Bite Back When Businesses and Scammers Do You Wrong."

Spring is around the corner! Are you looking for fun activities to do with your favorite canine pal? Join us for the 3rd annual Yappy Hour Dog Social on April 7 at the new Rush Creek Dog Park. Rentals at the public dog park are now available at the park for dog birthday parties, wag-worthy weddings and other special occasions.

Speaking of parks, families in south Arlington will have a newly renovated pocket park development to enjoy this spring. Nathan Lowe Park will feature new playground equipment, concrete walkways, benches and landscaping.

This month's Meet the Neighbors neighborhood profile focuses on the Heart of Arlington Neighborhood Association. This coalition of neighborhoods is working together not only to preserve their area's character and rich history but to make today and tomorrow better for the families who live, work and learn there.
