Weekend Buzz: 10 Events in The American Dream City for March 9-11, 2018

1. CreateX Painting at Globe Life Park in Arlington

Local artist Thomas Menezes will lead the March 9 class from 7-9 p.m. at Globe Life Park in Arlington. All attendees will complete a painting they can take home. New paintings will be offered for each class. No experience is required to participate and all supplies are included. A cash bar will also be available for the event. Classes are open to ages 16 and older unless class description states otherwise, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets for the painting classes are $40 and can be purchased at texasrangers.com/experiences.

2. Wayne Newton at Arlington Music Hall

Recognized worldwide as 'Mr. Las Vegas', entertainer Wayne Newton is known for his signature song, "Danke Schoen," plus many hit singles, including "Daddy, Don't You Walk So Fast," "Red Roses For a Blue Lady" and "Years." Newton perform at Arlington Music Hall this Friday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available online at Arlington Music Hall's website. 3. Shoji Tabuchi -Live from Branson, Missouri

Not just relegated to country music, Shoji Tabuchi's show incorporates a wide variety of stage settings, music styles, beautiful costumes and incredible musicianship. The show will take you on a journey from classical to country music, delight you with a multi-million dollar production, and leave you thoroughly entertained throughout the course of your time in the audience. The show gets underway at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10. Residents and visitors can purchase tickets for this show on the Arlington Music Hall website or call the box office at 817-226-4400.

4. Live Music at Grease Monkey Burger Shop & Social Club

Head over to Grease Monkey Burger Shop & Social Club in Downtown Arlington for two nights of live music this weekend. On Friday night, singer/songwriter Clayton Gardner out of College Station, TX performs at 9 p.m. On Saturday night, residents and visitors can check out the Josh Lee Band, a band that covers Classic Rock, 90s Rock, Country, the Oldies and today's hits. That show also starts at 9 p.m. Grease Monkey is located at 200 N Mesquite St, Arlington, TX 76011.

5. Spring Break at Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, continues its 57th season in The American Dream City. The park will open this weekend for guests to enjoy their favorite coasters and attractions, while preparations continue for the late spring debut of the ultimate Super-Villain thrill ride-HARLEY QUINN Spinsanity. The park's operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The park will also be open during Spring Break from Monday, March 12 to Sunday, March 18. 6. DreamWorks Shrek Jr. The Musical at Theatre Arlington -FINAL WEEKEND

Everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance in DreamWorks Shrek Jr. The Musical at Theatre Arlington. The show opens this Friday, February 23, 2018 and runs through March 11.

The performance schedule for Shrek Jr. is included below:

  • Friday at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday at 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

7. Ari Roar & Ceramic Animal at Truth Vinyl

Residents and visitors are invited to check out Dallas musician Ari Roar this Friday, March 9 at Truth Vinyl in Downtown Arlington from 8-11 p.m. Alongside his debut album, "Calm Down", the artist has also released the album's title track and revealed a string of shows for this year's SXSW festival in Austin. Ceramic Animal will play on Saturday from 8-11 p.m. Both shows will cost $5 and are open to all age groups. Truth Vinyl is located at 300 E Abram #190, Arlington, TX 76010. 8. Bikes & Coffee at Urban Alchemy

Urban Alchemy Coffee + Wine Bar will be hosting Third Shift Moto's Saturday Mornings Bikes & Coffee from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, March 10. The vintage motorcycle shop specializes in vintage Japanese Motorcycles. The shop also provides service options for maintenance, troubleshooting, restorations and custom builds. 9. Tai Chi at the Levitt Pavilion

Please join the Ambassadors for Aging Well for a free hour of Tai Chi at the Levitt Pavilion in Downtown Arlington this Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. The purpose of this event is to gauge interest in having regular Tai Chi exercise available at the Levitt Pavilion.
