An Arlington dispatcher 's heroic, life-saving act is being recognized by the fourth annual Smart Telecommunicators Awards, and you have a chance to help her win a national contest.

Thanks to Lari Tillar, a dispatcher for the Arlington Fire Department, an unresponsive stroke victim was saved through communications provided to the young 9-1-1 caller. The six-year-old was able to provide vital information for the first responders. The patient made a full recovery.

Online voting ends April 3. You can review the 20 finalist submissions and vote online for Lari Tillar at www.smart911.com/sta .

The finalists have demonstrated leadership, performance, compassion for callers, ability to inspire co-workers and overall contributions to their Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).

Winners will be announced during national Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, which runs April 13-17. One national winner will be named at an awards ceremony and will receive a $1,000 donation to the charity of his or her choice.
