The Stadium Drive project will move ahead after the Arlington City Council approved nearly $5.5M to widen the street from four to six lanes to improve traffic flow through the entertainment district.

Stadium Drive, one of the gateways to the entertainment district and a link to I-30, will be widened between Division and Abram streets in The American Dream City beginning later this year.

Street improvements will include an at-grade railroad crossing, a new hike and bike trail, underground storm drainage, sidewalks, street lights, water and sanitary sewer pipes.

According to Assistant Director of Public Works and Transportation David Wynn, the railroad crossing will be a quiet zone.

The construction contract was awarded to JLB Contracting, LLC of Fort Worth on Tuesday, June 2. Construction will begin Summer 2015 and should be completed by January 2017.

This project, which is part of the 2008 bond, supports the city council's "Enhance Regional Mobility" priority. It is one of 16 major public works and water utility upgrade projects totaling as much as $80 million scheduled to roll out over a two-year period.
