Congratulations to Asher Densmore-Lynn for being named the April 2015 Volunteer of the Month for the City of Arlington. He has volunteered for the Arlington Public Library since 2009 as a Library Advisory Board member and as a Pre-GED/GED tutor specializing in math.

Asher was appointed to the Library Advisory Board in 2009 by City Councilman Robert Rivera and has served two terms. He is currently the Vice Chair. Asher said he has learned a lot about library services and likes sharing his knowledge with the community. He has also enjoyed being part of the design process for the new Central Library.

As a Library Advisory Board member, Asher has attended many Library events and was at the Grand Opening of the Literacy House where he discovered the need for tutoring. Since 2011, he has accumulated over 260 volunteer hours, contributing 6-9 hours a week as an adult literacy tutor.

Asher is from the Fort Worth area and moved to Arlington 10 years ago. He loves reading online and likes using the Library as a resource for downloading books. Science Fiction is the genre he prefers and author Lois McMaster Bujold is a favorite.
