Reading is paying off for Arlington kids this summer. Superheroes met with young book lovers at Arlington's public libraries Wednesday to celebrate their accomplishments.
When participants of the Summer Reading Club complete the reading for their age group, they are awarded a prize.
If a child reads extra books, they are entered into an additional prize drawing. Several superheroes were at the Arlington library branches to hand out prizes to the kids who went above and beyond on their summer reading.
Never fear, adults can participate and win prizes too! Reading levels range from birth to 18 and up! Adults that read more than one hour will receive a prize and be entered to win a staycation prize!
All families that enter will receive a family goodie bag.
Cary Siegfried, director of libraries, joined in the fun as Batwoman. “Summer Reading Club encourages children to read for pleasure over the summer months, which will maintain or in many cases improve reading levels, vocabulary development and a general love of reading," said Siegfried.

During the program's first week, 193 kids created reading logs using MySRC.org. Be sure to sign up today and help your child become a super reader.
