Bigger Means Better at This Year's Light Up Arlington
Light Up Arlington has changed the overall layout due to high attendance in the past few years, but don't worry the night will still feature great food, awesome music and fireworks!
The Parks and Recreation Department has decided to extend the venue with a North/South expansion. This means more room for activities! With overflowing crowds and heavy pedestrian traffic, the expansion will help alleviate crowd flow and smooth transportation for both the participants and the vendors.
Due to the closing of Arlinton's main library and construction nearby, changes to the layout of Light Up Arlington are in effect this year. Some of the changes include moving the children's area in the First Baptist Church Wade building parking lot. The north expansion provides more publicity to downtown restaurants, such as Grease Monkey and Mellow Mushroom. That expansion also includes a third stage at the Grease Monkey.
"The challenges of the library shutdown and overwhelming response of crowds in the past year made us decide on the new layout for 2015," Rental and Lake Services Manager Michael Debrecht said. "Although this expansion causes relocation of some venues, we partnered with more local businesses around downtown to help crowds extend to those areas and create better pedestrian flow."

It is sure to be an awesome night. There are plenty of activities for the kids. Food trucks will be available on site from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. The fireworks start at 9:45 PM and will be set to music from 95.9 The Ranch! Get your groove on with live music all night, with two stages set up and entertainment from top acts in DFW. The traditional set up on the Levitt Pavilion stage is still happening, but this year with the new layout, live music will be playing at Grease Monkey as well.
If you want a spot at the Levitt Pavilion, come early and bring blankets or lawn chairs. The night will be packed with fun so grab the whole family or a group of friends and join us as we Light Up Arlington!
