Just in time for summertime travel and fun, the Arlington Police Department will host an event that puts the focus on tourism safety and prevention.

On Saturday, June 27, the Entertainment District Tourism Unit will host a free Tour SMART Safety Fair.

From 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., vendors from many sectors of the community will set up in the west parking lot at 200 Lincoln Square Blvd.

The public can get important travel safety information, learn how to protect their vehicle from burglary and meet the dedicated men and women of the Arlington Police Department, Tarrant County Autotheft Task Force and Arlington Fire Department.

At the event, find pet safety information and learn more about the programs and services of your local library and code compliance department. This event will also include appearances from city and county officials and a host of local business partners. There will be games, prizes, children's activities and more.

TOUR SMART is the EDTU's motto, which is an acronym for Safety Means Always Remember to Think.

"With our Tour SMART safety fair, we want to empower our residents, tourists and business partners to think safety and prevention," said EDTU Sergeant Jakisha Jones.
