The City of Arlington recently launched a new website titled "Live in Arlington" for new home buyers looking to call The American Dream City their place of residence.

Arlington provides an excelling pre-K to college educational system and has become a pipeline of tomorrow's thought leaders in business, industry and education.

One of the great examples of thriving education in The American Dream City is The University of Texas at Arlington. UT Arlington is the second biggest institution in the University of Texas system only trailing the main campus in Austin.

Here are eight fast facts about UT Arlington that are helpful in showcasing their continued success:

1. UT Arlington students come from every state and more than 100 countries, resulting in one of the most diverse student groups in the nation. Diversity statistics as of Fall 2015:

  • 23 percent Hispanic

  • 15 percent African American

  • 10 percent Asian

  • 12 percent International

2. Here is a breakdown of the degrees offered at UT Arlington (as of Fall 2015): 85 Bachelor's 74 Master's, 26 Doctoral, 1 Professional.

3. As of Fall 2015, enrollment at UTA was at 26,545 Undergraduate students, 9,115 Masters and Certificate students, 1,348 Doctoral students, adding up to a total enrollment of 37,008 students. Total enrollment of all students in on-campus and online programs is more than 51,000.

4. Students, faculty, and staff put their energy to work doing service projects, contributing about 680,000 volunteer hours annually through programs like the Big Event and other programs and events.

5. There are a number of traditions at UT Arlington:

  • Oozeball. UTA's annual mud-volleyball tournament is the school's most popular tradition.

  • Bed Races. 1 bed + 4 wheels + a team of 5 = a 30-year tradition.

  • Maverick Stampede. Welcoming students back to campus, it's the ultimate two-week warm-up with tons of activities hosted by student groups.

6. Movin' Mavs, UTA's men's wheelchair basketball team has won seven national championships. The Lady Movin Mavs, our women's wheelchair basketball team, won a national championship in 2016.

7. UT Arlington's campus spans 420 acres and includes more than 100 buildings, some dating from 1919. In recent years, campus construction projects totaling almost $300 million have buoyed development in downtown Arlington.

8. Of UTA's 200,000 alumni, approximately 65 percent live in North Texas. Their presence helps the University create an annual economic impact of almost $13 billion in the region.
