Hear Newbery-Medal winning author Kwame Alexander as he tells us about his new book, Rebound.

Rebound is a prequel and companion novel to the action-packed, critically acclaimed book, The Crossover. Kwame Alexander will be at the Southeast Branch from 5 to 6 p.m. on April 24.

In Rebound, before he is Chuck "Da Man" Bell, Charlie is a kid who dreams of basketball glory. In his mind, he can steal, jump, dunk, and make the crowd go wild just like a pro-baller. But when tragedy strikes, Charlie can't help but make all the wrong moves.

Will a series of missteps keep him benched, or can he learn how to rebound in the follow-up to Alexander's slam dunk novel, The Crossover? Seven poems are illustrated throughout the book by DawudAnyabwile, Emmy-winning artist and co-creator of the groundbreaking comic series, Brotherman.

Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, and the New York Times Bestselling author of 25 books, including Rebound, the follow-up to his Newbery-medal winning middle-gradenovel The Crossover. Kwame writes for children of all ages. Some of his other works include The Playbook: 52 Rules to Help You Aim, Shoot, and Score in this Game of Life, and the novels Solo and Booked.

This event will be taking place on Tuesday, April 24 in the Community Room at the Southeast Branch Library, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. No registration is required for this free talk! Books-A-Million will be on hand to sell copies of Rebound after the event.
