Diversity in Action, or Dia!, is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds.

Arlington: the American Dream City is joining in and celebrating from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, May 2 at the Mavericks Activity Center (MAC), 500 W. Nedderman St.

Dia! is an enhancement of Children’s Day, a world-wide celebration intended to bring attention to the importance and well-being of children, celebrated in Latin America on April 30.

The celebration will include crafts, music, snacks, dancers and even bilingual story time!

Arlington wants to celebrate children and connect them to the world of learning through books. Children should learn to embrace their culture and language while learning others.
