Abram Street Lane Closures Through Downtown Extended

Due to a combination of an unexpected conflict with other utilities, soil conditions and inclement weather, lane closures on Abram Street in downtown Arlington will last longer than originally anticipated.

Westbound lanes on Abram Street between East Street and Elm Street, which were expected to reopen to drivers on July 1, will continue to remain closed about three weeks longer than scheduled.

The two westbound lanes and the center turn lane in this section of Abram Street, just east of the Arlington Municipal Court, are closed to accommodate the installation of public infrastructure for the 101 Center development project. Only one eastbound lane of Abram Street is currently open in the affected section.

Your patience and understanding are appreciated as improvements are made to Downtown Arlington.

Drivers needing to travel westbound on Abram can detour south on Mary Street, west on Border Street and then back north on Mesquite Street to get past the construction. Those wanting to connect to Cooper Street from Abram can detour south on Mary and turn right on Border Street, which becomes UTA Boulevard.

Starting July 22, the infrastructure work will shift west, causing the westbound lanes and center turn lane of Abram Street to be closed between Elm Street and Mesquite Street for approximately a month.
