The City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that Cynthia Nguyen has been named Volunteer of the Month for August 2015.

Cynthia Nguyen has been a volunteer with the Community Programs division from May 2015- July 2015. While she hasn't been with the department as a volunteer for long, she has showed that anything can be done with a "can-do" attitude.

Always eager to learn more and help anyway she can, Cynthia has been an essential part of the Parks team this summer. She has worked on numerous projects since her time with the department including planning, organizing and working Light Up Arlington on July 3, 2015, for the Rental and Lakes division, as well as structuring and coordinating with different people to help establish a Cultural Outreach program at the recreation centers within the Community Programs division in May and June of 2015.

Many of these projects required various skills, including a knowledge of programming and marketing that take some time to get used to, however, Cynthia nailed them in a matter of weeks.

Cynthia always has a positive attitude and always a kind face around the office. She officially joined the Parks and Recreation team July 20 as an employee. According to her managers, Cynthia's hard work, eagerness to learn and dedication throughout her time as a volunteer with the department encouraged staff to offer her a position in Rental and Lake Services.
