Six Flags Over

Wags and Flags at the opening day of Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Over Texas kicked off on the 19th of November by spreading holiday cheer not only for guests visiting the park, but for the homeless animals at Arlington Animal Services.

Valerie Kelton, Six Flags executive assistant to the park president stated, "Our guests donated 263 pounds of pet food, plus we had one pet adoption, so we are thrilled!" The happy new pet owner received complimentary tickets to visit the park during the holidays. Animal loving Six Flags employees also completed an internal animal food drive throughout the month of November. Kelton said "the partnership is such a pleasure and we think the event went very well."

Dry dog food donations of five pounds or more brought to the Wags and Flags event coinciding with the opening day of Holiday in the Park earned park goers a coupon for discounted admission tickets for that day. Monetary donations of $43.45 were also donated at the event, mostly by children attending the community event.

The hundreds of pounds of food were delivered to Arlington Animal Services on the 14th of December. Excitement was in the air as the community room was filled with the generous food donation and a surprise additional $240 cash donation from Six Flags for the shelter animals!

Arlington Animal Services takes in multiple stray, unwanted and owner surrender animal each day and donations of food received to assist in the care of these animals is both rewarding for the donor and greatly appreciated by the staff and animals.

Special thanks to Six Flags Over Texas for working hand in hand with its stakeholders and citizens alike for their donation to help feed the shelter animals and for bringing an awareness of the shelter's needs.
