UT Arlington held its first official practices of the 2015 season with a two-a-day at College Park Center on Monday.

"It always feels good at the start of the season to be back in the gym with lots of returners," UT Arlington coach Diane Seymour said. "We also have some new faces and melding all that together is the fun part of the start of the season."

Seymour returns eight letterwinners from a 2014 squad that saw the program's best winning percentage since 2004 and the most wins since 2006. UTA qualified for the 2014 Sun Belt Championship where it fell to eventual champion Little Rock in the second round.

Highlighting the returners is libero Caitlyn Cooney, who enters her final season 29 digs shy of breaking into the UTA top 10 charts in career digs and 649 short of becoming the Mavericks' all-time dig leader.

"It feels good to be back," Cooney said. "I've been here all summer taking classes, but its nice to have everyone back here. We've had some good practices and we're looking forward to getting ready for this season."

The 2015 slate includes three tournaments and four games against opponents that made an appearance in the 2014 NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The season opens on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. when UTA takes on Campbell as a part of the Maverick Classic. The tournament continues on Aug. 29 with the Mavs facing Grambling State at 1:30 p.m. and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7 p.m.
