The room was full of dream come true moments for several student-athletes today, as Arlington ISD held its annual district-wide National Signing Day ceremony for students who have signed or will sign with a college athletic program.
More than 60 students representing all six Arlington ISD high schools signed national letters of intent in eight different sports.
AISD Athletic Director Kevin Ozee was the emcee for the ceremony at the Professional Development Center, which featured speeches from both Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos and guest speaker Mark Clayton, a Sam Houston High School graduate and former wide receiver who played professionally in the National Football League with the Baltimore Ravens and St. Louis Rams. Clayton played college football for Oklahoma from 2001 to 2004.
Today's ceremony included two City of Arlington Student-Athlete of the Month honorees for the 2016-17 school year.Kate Tran from Martin High School signed on to play golf at The University of Texas at Arlington and Bowie High School's Surprise Gilman is set to play football for Cisco College.
