Thank Our Veterans at the Arlington Heroes Parade, Run and Other Events

Veterans-Day

Arlington residents are invited to celebrate the community's veterans during a series of events planned between Nov. 3 and Nov. 14, 2018. Veterans Day is Sunday, Nov. 11. Here are some activities scheduled across The American Dream City.

Texas Veteran Round Up

The 3rd annual Texas Veteran Round Up will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Bring the whole family to enjoy food, music, art, games, and special presentations at the Charles Wade Building, located at 301 South Center St. in Downtown Arlington.

Cowboys "Salute to Service'

The Cowboys will close out "Salute to Service Week" with a stadiumwide celebration during the 7:15 p.m. Monday Night Football match up against the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 5, presented by American Airlines. Nearly 500 servicemen and women will participate in pageantry elements during the National Anthem, pregame on the plazas and on-field at halftime. Country music artist Jerrod Niemann will join military from all service branches and perform his new single "Old Glory" in honor of troops across the globe. Additionally, funds from the Cowboys 50/50 Raffle program will benefit veterans assistance programs at The Salvation Army. Throughout the game, the club will do live "look-ins" to bases around the world who are viewing the game via the Armed Services Network.

Chris Kyle Golf Tournament

The 2nd annual Chris Kyle Legendary Classic Golf Tournament, presented by R.J. Carroll Company, will be held at Tierra Verde Golf Club, located at 7005 Golf Club Dr. in southwest Arlington. The tournament will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Chris Kyle Foundation Happy Hour

Happy Hour! in Arlington Backyard at Texas Live! will be held from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6. The event includes live music from Deryl Dodd, Dean Dillon and Sundance Head, specialty drinks, and Texas-sized fun to honor the life and legacy of "American Sniper" Chris Kyle. Happy Hour! benefits the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation and helps continue the organization's mission to serve military and first responders. Hiring Red, White, and You! Job Fair

The Texas Workforce Commission will host the 7th annual statewide Hiring Red, White and You! job fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at Globe Life Park in Arlington. In cooperation with the 28 Local Workforce Development Boards, the Texas Veterans Commission connects Texas veterans and their spouses with Texas employers that value the experience, discipline, and other exceptional qualities inherent in a military background.

Arlington Heroes Run

The Arlington Heroes Run hosted by the Rotary Club of Arlington will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Veteran's Park, 3600 W. Arkansas Ln. The 5K race and fun run will benefit the Arlington police, fire, and veterans. The fun run will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9 a.m.

Arlington Heroes Parade

The 2nd annual Arlington Heroes Parade is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in Downtown Arlington. The mission of the parade is to raise awareness to the organizations and services available to our heroes.

Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony

Arlington Great Southwest Rotary Club cordially invites you and your guests to attend their Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony honoring veterans who served in the Armed Forces of the United States and with special recognition of Vietnam War era veterans. The ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at the Bob Duncan Center, 2800 S. Center St. Plans to hold the event at Veterans Park were changed due to inclement weather.

Veterans Day Salute

The Veterans Day Salute will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the Metro Center at the Arlington Fielder Baptist Church, 2011 South Fielder Rd. Please park in the east parking lot and enter the East Building Entrance. This event will feature performances by Newman International Academy students and words from leadership and special speakers. Please stay to enjoy a reception and encouraging conversation after the Salute.

The Veterans' Experience Panel Discussion

A panel of Tarrant County College veterans will discuss their experiences in and out of the military from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at the TCC SE Campus in Library classroom ESED 1212. The panel will be moderated by James Foreman, an Air Force veteran and Public Services Librarian. This event is co-sponsored by the Judith J. Carrier Library, Southeast Campus Student Activities, and the Veterans Success Center.
