Enter the Arlington Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit of Service Scholarship Competition
This competition is for college students enrolled in Tarrant County College Southeast and UT Arlington.
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the winning essay writer!
This year's theme is: “Continuing the Dream: Moving Toward Unity, Justice and Peace.”
How to Enter:
- Must be a sophomore, junior or senior enrolled at UT Arlington or Tarrant County College Southeast with a full-time status of 12 semester hours or more
- Must be able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to community service by providing a brief statement of volunteer achievements.
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Must be able to demonstrate financial need
- Essays must be original, typed, double-spaced and not exceed 1,500 words.
- Must include letters of recommendation from two faculty members or nonprofit community organizations.
Application deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017.
Winners will be formally recognized at the MLK Advancing the Dream Awards Banquet on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018.
