Residents living in Apartment Complexes are an important part of our community. There are specific issues that these residents can address which will assist us with preventing stormwater pollution. This presentation explains the City's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System or MS4 and how it conveys stormwater to our creeks, streams and lakes. As stormwater moves through the City's storm drain system, it picks up pollutants. This presentation will define the different types of pollution: point source and non-point source as well as give examples of each. Specific apartment complex issues such as sanitary sewer overflows, pet waste, vehicle maintenance and blowing trash will be the primary focus of the presentation. However, the City's MS4 is integral in minimizing the effects of heavy rain events, Therefore information concerning flood insurance and flood safety will also be provided.
