Ever wonder what happens to a rain drop as it travels from the clouds and through our neighborhoods? Did you realize that the raindrop can travel from our neighborhood to the ocean? “All the Way to the Ocean - A Raindrops’ Journey” shows students how rainwater picks up pollutants and carries them through our storm drain system and into our local waterways. These pollutants enter our streams, creeks, rivers, and lakes through stormwater- runoff as it travels through our urban environment. In this presentation, students will learn about different types of pollutants; learn ways they can help prevent or remove the pollutants from our local waterways and discover how pollutants effect plant and animal life that make up our environment.

Our Raindrops Journey program is being expanded to include the video “All the Way to the Ocean” based on the award-winning book by Joel Harper. Students will watch the new video based on Mr. Harper’s book and will learn about the “cause and effect relationship between our cities’ storm drains and the World’s oceans, lakes and rivers”. Students will play the Raindrop Journey game and received a water quality activity book.
