Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Projects:

Belvedere Drive (Collins Street to Mitchell Street): 

This $1.5 million project was funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for neighborhood infrastructure improvements and Water and Sanitary Sewer Bond funds and aligns with City Council’s priorities to Champion Great Neighborhoods and Enhance Regional Mobility. This project, which began in July 2018 and ended in August 2019, consisted of the following improvements:

• Rebuilding Belvedere Drive, from South Collins Street to East Mitchell Street, with 7-inch concrete pavement to create a longer lasting and smoother road surface

• Stormwater system drainage improvements

• Water and sanitary sewer line renewals

• Improvements to sidewalks, installation of ADA compliant ramps, and replacing streetlights for a friendlier and more inviting environment for pedestrians

New York Corridor (Abram Street to Arkansas Lane):
This $1.2 million street rebuild project provides pedestrian amenities along the corridor, including lighting, landscaping, trash receptacles, benches, pavers, pedestrian traffic signals, and accessibility features. Approximately 6,000 Arlington residents benefit from these improvements. The project was complete in March 2019.

Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) Projects:

Casa Cortile:
$125,000 in HOME Investment Partnership funds were provided to an affordable single-family home, Casa Cortile on Truman. The 1,560 -square-foot home features three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, a two-car garage and a courtyard patio. The Housing Channel and UT Arlington’s College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs collaborated on this project to design and build this home. The home was completed in May 2018 and was purchased by a first-time homebuyer through the Arlington Homebuyer Assistance program. 

Truman House
Bel Air on Abram:
In November 2019, the Bel Air on Abram town homes were open to the public. The first phase of the town homes features five buildings with 16 town homes that will provide affordable housing options with a range of price points. Through grants, qualified buyers are eligible for down payment assistance ranging from $7,500 to $35,000. Two additional phases of the mixed-use development, which will eventually feature a total of 47 town homes, a community green space, dog park and future commercial frontage along Abram Street, are planned.
