Represents the portion of the city bounded by Great Southwest Parkway and the city limits on the east, Pioneer Parkway on the south, Bowen Road on the west, and Division Street on the north. District 5 includes downtown Arlington, City Hall, the University of Texas at Arlington, Central Library and General Motors.

Ignacio began his adult life in Arlington in 1971 working at Six Flags and attending UT Arlington. After his medical education and residency, he began his career at Arlington Memorial Hospital in 1983 and was a partner with Family Healthcare Associates. He was the first member of his family to attend college and is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Nunez delivered babies for close to 30 years and continued the practice of Gynecology until his retirement 2018.

He’s married to Lynda Nunez and they have three daughters, one son and nine grandchildren. Lynda has lived her entire life in Arlington. He and Lynda have established Scholarships in both the College of Science and the College of Liberal Arts at UTA in honor of their mothers’ memories. He is a member of the UTA College of Science Advisory Board, a member of the Texas Health Resources Board Strategy Subcommittee, and formally served on the Planning and Zoning Commission of Arlington.
