To protect publicly owned treatment works and sanitary sewer systems, the EPA has set pretreatment standards to reduce dental office discharges of the mercury in amalgam used for fillings. The effective date of the rule was June 14, 2017.

New dental offices, or “new sources,” must comply with the new regulations by the effective date.

Dental offices must submit a one-time compliance report to their local authority. Follow the links below for compliance reporting forms for the City of Arlington and useful information about implementing the new guidelines.
