On November 1, 2022, the Arlington City Council adopted the 2021 Editions of the International Building Codes and the 2020 Edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC). These editions have an effective date of January 1, 2023. Any permit applications submitted on or after January 1, 2023, will be required to be in compliance with the newly adopted codes.

• 2021 Editions of the International Building Code, International Energy Conservation Code, International Residential Code, International Existing Building Code, and International Swimming Pool and Spa Code
• 2021 Edition of the International Mechanical Code
• 2021 Edition of the International Plumbing Code and the International Fuel Gas Code
• 2021 Edition of the International Fire Code
• 2020 Edition of the National Electrical Code
