The City of Arlington is conducting a South Cooper Street Corridor Study to improve transportation, enhance economic development, and position Cooper Street to help connect and bolster the broader Arlington community. The study area includes a five-mile section of Cooper Street from UTA Boulevard to Bardin Road. Key elements of the study include analysis of existing conditions, development of a vision for the Corridor, and creation of an implementation plan to fulfill the vision.

The South Cooper Street Corridor Study began in February 2020 and was then temporarily put on hold due to COVID-19. The Study started again in August 2020. A Community Advisory Committee will meet regularly throughout the project to provide guidance. Public involvement will be continuous throughout the project, with various opportunities to provide input. The final draft plan is slated for completion and Council consideration in the spring of 2021. Stay tuned to this page for opportunities to be engaged in the planning process!

  • October 14, 2020
  • December 16, 2020

Public Involvement Opportunities

Part of the robust public involvement of the South Cooper Street Corridor Study is a series of time periods when public input will be gathered on specific plan elements, including open public meetings that can be attended either in person or virtually. These public input periods are designed to share findings from the Study with the general public and gather feedback, although comments can be provided at any point during the Study process. The first Public Input Period will include a review of existing conditions in the study area and a variety of opportunities for the public to shape the vision for the future of Cooper Street. The second Public Input Period will allow input on the draft recommendations for achieving the established vision for Cooper Street. The third Public Input Period will provide opportunities for the public to review the draft plan and provide feedback before the plan’s formal adoption process.
