Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
Arlington CERT currently does not have classes or trainings scheduled. Future CERT Basic Trainings will be posted on this page and distributed via social media.
If you would like additional information before the CERT Basic Training, you may complete the FEMA Independent Study Course IS-317: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams prior to the first day of class. Completing the FEMA IS-317: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams prior to class will provide you with a foundation of concepts and allow you to focus on hands-on application of methods and allow you to fully understand and interact with materials that you have become familiar before arriving to class.
Please email us if you have any questions.
