Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

CERT

The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

The last Arlington CERT Basic Training for 2019 will be held June 1st, 7th, and 8th. All three dates are required to receive a completion certificate. To take this class, you must complete the FEMA Independent Study Course IS-317: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams prior to the first day of class. The class can be found here.  If you have completed the class and are ready to register for CERT Basic Training, you can do so here. You must upload your IS-317 course certificate to register.

Completing the FEMA IS-317: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams prior to class will provide you with a foundation of concepts and allow us to focus on hands-on application of methods and to fully understand and interact with materials that you have become familiar before arriving to class.

Please email us if you have any questions.
