RE:  POOL/SPA, INTERACTIVE WATER FEATURES (PIWF) INVOICE AND INFORMATION

Dear Pool/Spa, PIWF Owner or Operator:

On January 1, 2021, the Texas Pool Rules amendments became effective, which have been incorporated by the City of Arlington Code of Ordinances. See https://www.dshs.texas.gov/poolspa/default.aspx.  The City of Arlington has also recently adopted the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code.  Existing facilities are not subject to either of these new requirements regarding engineering and construction except as specified by the City of Arlington Code of Ordinances. Please note, other requirements, such as water quality and user safety, apply to all facilities, including those already in existence.

This letter is to provide you information regarding the 2023 annual billing of your pool/spa or public interactive water feature (PIWF).  Also, enclosed is your invoice for each pool/spa or PIWF in the amount of $200.00 for a seasonal pool or $350.00 for a year-round pool.  A reinstatement fee of $75.00 will be added to the amount due, if payment is not received prior to June 1st. Please submit your payment upon receipt. Invoices can now be paid online at www.ArlingtonPermits.com

Please note that all public pools, spas or PIWFs must be annually inspected and comply with all provisions of the City of Arlington Health and Sanitation Chapter.  A seasonal pool, spa or PIWF must pass an annual inspection before the expiration of their permit on March 1st.  A year-round pool, spa or PIWF must pass bi-annual inspections before the expiration of their permit on March 1st.  Inspections may be arranged by calling 817-459-6777.  Please do not call until your pool, spa or PIWF has met all current standards.  Other documents that will be required by the inspection date:

  • Annual electrical inspection report
  • Annual backflow prevention assembly inspection report
  • Compliance document for VGB drain cover installation
  • Trained Pool Operator certification as required by the City of Arlington Health and Sanitation Chapter
  • Certified Pool Operator certification as required by the Texas Administrative Code

Pool Operator certifications are no longer required to register with the City of Arlington

As per local and state requirements a TPO or CPO who maintains a public pool, spa or PIWFs must maintain daily water quality testing and monthly safety equipment inspections. You are strongly advised to review the regulations.

All information is also available on the City of Arlington website at www.arlingtontx.gov/codecomplianceservices.
