information for reporters, utilities, or anyone seeking information

Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) - An agency formed through
a reorganization of research, monitoring, standard-setting, and
enforcement activities scattered through several departments and
agencies. Their function is to identify pollutants, trace
them through the entire ecological chain, observe and record
changes in form as they occur, determine the total exposure of man
and his environment, examine interactions among forms of pollution,
and identify where in the ecological chain interdiction would be

- Lake level elevation that is updated every 15 minutes.

Tarrant
Regional Water District (TRWD) - A political
subdivision of the State of Texas formed in 1924 with the purposes
of water supply and flood control. One of the largest raw water
suppliers in the state, the District serves over 30 wholesale
customers, including Fort Worth, Arlington, Mansfield, and the
Trinity River Authority of Texas. For a more

Water Development Board (TWDB)
- Provides financial
assistance to local governments for water supply projects, provides
agricultural water conservation funding and water-related research
and planning grants, supports regions in developing their regional
water plan programs, collects data and conducts studies concerning
the fresh-water needs of the state’s bays and estuaries,
administers the Texas Water Bank, and maintains a centralized data

organization devoted to providing quality education and training to
individuals involved in the water utilities profession. For a

Trinity
River Authority (TRA) - A political subdivision of the
State of Texas charged by legislative mandate with three functions
that include: maintaining a master plan for basin-wide
development, serving as local sponsor for federal water projects, and
providing services authorized by the Texas Legislature within the
defined territory of TRA. Public services provided by TRA include wastewater treatment, water treatment,
and recreation

- A
water-conserving method of landscaping in arid
or semiarid climates. The concept or idea of Xeriscape
was developed to meet the state of Colorado’s need to conserve
water resources. The term is a registered trademark for
the Water Board of the city of Denver, Colorado.
