On May 30, the City of Arlington hosted a ground breaking ceremony for the new South Arlington Police Service Center at 1030 S.W. Green Oaks Blvd. The $6.2-million facility will house about 100 police officers who will serve the southern areas of Arlington, predominantly south of I-20. This part of the city includes about 100,000 residents. City staff from the Community Services Department will also work out of this facility. Arlington voters authorized funding for the 25,000-square-foot facility in the 2003 bond election. The facility is expected to open in spring 2008.
