HOMELESS GRANT FUNDS :: EMERGENCY SOLUTIONS GRANT (ESG)

The City of Arlington received $139,727 in ESG funds this past year from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support organizations that provide emergency shelter and services to homeless individuals and families. Three organizations in Arlington provide temporary shelter and supportive services to assist individuals to move toward independent living as well as to prevent homelessness.

Arlington Life Shelter shepherds homeless men, women and children towards a lifestyle of self-sufficiency through services such as an employment program, children’s services, education services, job readiness and coaching, physical and mental health services, social work, and transitional housing. Safe Haven of Tarrant County provides emergency shelter, supportive services, and homelessness prevention assistance to victims of abuse. Supportive services include child education programs, counseling, life skills and parenting training, legal advocacy and employment referrals. Salvation Army is a faith-based non-profit organization that provides a 12-week transitional housing and supportive services program to homeless families to help them return to self-sufficiency. Supportive services include financial assistance, after school programs for children and life skills classes for adults.
