COMMERCIAL DISTRICTS

The City Council has approved text amendments to non-residential districts “O” (Office), “NS” (Neighborhood Service), and “CS” (Community Service).

The commercial district changes include removing certain uses from “NS” (Neighborhood Service) including gasoline sales, nursing home, and supervised living and revising some applicable conditions including minimum 5,000 sq ft requirements when residential adjacency exists.  The changes also creates a new non-residential district “LS” (Local Service).  The purpose of this new commercial zoning district is to create a district which allows non-residential uses that are appropriate for the city and neighbors while prohibiting more intense commercial uses which are currently allowed in “CS” (Community Service).

City Council also approved text amendments to the "B" (Business), "LI" (Light Industrial), and "IM" (Industrial Manufacturing) zoning districts on November 14, 2006.  This text amendment will only change the format of the zoning districts to match the recently adopted "O", "NS", "LS", and "CS" format changes.
