
Brownfields Advisory
Committee
The City of Arlington
Brownfields Advisory Committee will be formed effective July 31,
2008 and will remain in existence until September 30, 2010, the life
of the City’s communitywide assessment grants. If the City receives
additional Brownfields funding, there is an option to extend the
life of the committee for the length of that funding cycle.
The committee will act in
an advisory capacity only and will be composed of citizens
representing neighborhood groups, community organizations, local
business leaders and affected property owners, as well as members of
the Citizens Environmental Committee, the Arlington Conservation
Council, the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and
the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
Committee Duties and
Responsibilities
The duties and
responsibilities of the Brownfields Advisory Committee shall be to:
- Identify immediate development priorities for each target
area and make recommendations to the City;
- Participate in maximizing visibility of Brownfields sites,
identifying development opportunities and making recommendations
to the City;
- Participate in the development of prioritization criteria,
which can be used to rank Brownfields sites for Phase I & II
activities; and
- Participate in reviewing results of environmental studies
and development proposals and make recommendations to the City
Council; and
- Participate in preparation of a redevelopment plan for each
of the target areas focusing on sustainability and long-term
objectives.
