ARLINGTON COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE :: YOUR FUTURE, YOUR VOICE... BUILD THE VISION!

The City of Arlington is undertaking a Comprehensive Planning process, exploring many economic, social and cultural aspects of the City's future.  This planning process will: Provide a strategic direction for the city's future; Identify assets, opportunities, and needs; Identify issues that must be addressed in order to reach a common vision; Bring together the community-based Sector Plans to provide a unified City Plan; Include a cross-section of stakeholder groups and committee delegates; Culminate vital surveys and public feedback into this joint collaborative effort to develop the Arlington Comprehensive Plan.

Goals and Objectives
Although a set of Goals were adopted along with the Vision in 2003, a few of these goals were revised in light of the City’s priorities and anticipated future development. In addition, objectives have been identified that work towards accomplishing these goals…Proposed Goals and Objectives.

In addition, as the Comprehensive Plan will unify the various sector plans so as to create a unified vision of future growth and development of Arlington, the proposed goals relate to the policies identified in the previously adopted Sector Plans…Proposed Goals and Sector Plan Goal Statements.

Future Land Use Map
The Goals and Objectives work in concert with the City’s Future Land Use Map, which presents a preferred pattern of land uses and development. The map summarizes long-term goals and guides the community’s discussion of how development, preservation, and public realm investment should play out over the next twenty years.
