RULES

Each week for the next nine weeks, a three-foot cutout of Buddy Blue will be hidden somewhere in one of Arlington’s facilities, such as parks, golf courses, swimming pools, tennis center or recreation centers.

The first three people to find Buddy Blue each week will receive prizes. To win, find Buddy Blue, take a picture of him and send it to parksdepartment@arlingtontx.gov along with a description of where you found him. The first three to submit correct photos will win that week’s prize. Read the press release

WEEKLY CLUES

Each day's clues will bring you closer to finding Buddy's hiding place.
Come back each morning around 9:00 am for a new clue. Weekend clues will be available at 5:00 pm on Fridays.

  • Buddy will not be hiding in any facility which requires an entry fee.
  • Have fun looking for Buddy as much as you like, but prize packages are limited to two per family/household
  • City employees and their families are not eligible to participate in the "Where's Buddy Blue" contest.
  • By submitting photos, you grant Arlington's Parks and Recreation Department the right to use and publish without any obligation of monetary compensation.

WEEK 9 CLUES AND WINNERS

1. Choo-Choo!
2. Can’t say east, west, up or down, he’s basically right in the middle of town.
3. If this searching for Buddy’s making you go mental, throw a party instead and here you can book a rental.
4. For all the mischief that Buddy’s made, we would have put him in here back in the day.
5. Ok, Buddy called and said he’d like to meet, but he got cut off and all we got was “Main street”
6. This time a tree is not where Buddy Blue is, he’s inside, on blue, behind bushes.

WEEK 8 CLUES AND WINNERS

1. South-central Arlington just might be, where Buddy Blue is hiding from you and me!
2. Visitors fell in "love" with this recreational enterprise, when it opened in 1995 at just 60% of its current size.
3. If Buddy Blue gets a boo boo while waiting to be seen, he can get a quick fix just across the street.
4. You "may field" your questions about the location to staff, but don’t expect them to tell you where Buddy’s at!
5. Buddy Blue is making tons of "racquet", so get over here and do something about that!
6. Now Buddy Blue can’t wait to see ya and introduce you to his friends, Roger, Rafael, Venus and Maria.

WEEK 7 CLUES AND WINNERS

Lynn Creek Linear Park

1. It’s time to start your search for Buddy again, and south and to the east is the way to start week seven.
2. When Buddy hides, he’s always thinking, “Where does no one even bother peeking?”
3. Put on your shoes and head for the creek, that’s where you’ll find him playing hide and seek.
4. A linear thought might be helpful, when you’re search has come up null.
5. Don’t think that Buddy’s hiding is fishy, he can’t help that he has ADD.
6. If you’re still looking, he’s somewhere inside Lynn Creek. You know where to look, ‘cause he likes to climb trees.

WEEK 5 CLUES AND WINNERS

Tierra Verde

1. In November of 1998 this “park” was opened to the public.
2. The park was named after what it represents, green earth.
3. This is the first municipal park in the united states and the world to be certified as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary
4. Birdies, eagles and butterflies can be found at this facility.
5. You can go for a walk or take a ride at this facility, 3, 6, 9 or 18 Holes at a time.
6. Before, during, or after your round, you might find a new Buddy relaxing in the shade and listing to music.
7. Your new buddy may be found enjoying Tapas and Paella on the patio.

WEEK 4 CLUES AND WINNERS

Bob Duncan Center

1. Bird’s fly South for the Winter
You will need to roll South down Center
2. If you hit the Highlands you have gone too far
Don’t stop to shop get back in your car
3. Keep your eyes open and you will see
In a park named for a Mayor, a big-blue V
4. West of the V there is something really cool
Buddy Blue is not hiding here
Don’t look for him at Allen Bolden Pool
5. Yo-yo’s and trash truck’s all carry his name
So does this building….find it
And you are almost done with this game.
6. Go into his building that’s available for rent
For parties, meetings, weddings and reunion’s

WEEK 3 CLUES AND WINNERS

Clarence Thompson Park

1. On November 2, 1983, the City of Arlington acquired these fifteen acres in NE Arlington. This land was dedicated as a “park” on June 30, 1987.
2. The park was named after this former member of the Arlington Planning and Zoning Commission and Arlington Memorial Hospital Board. This “gentlemen” was also named “Citizen of the Year” by the Arlington Chamber of Commerce in 1974.
3. The first name of this park has the same first name as the original saxophone player for Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band.
4. The last name of the man that this park was named after is also the name of a popular water seal product for wood.
5. You will see a playground, picnic area, nature area and barbeque grill at this park on Brown Boulevard and Baird Farm Road.
6. After a short walk in the park, you might find a new Buddy around the southwest corner of the park.
7. Your new buddy may be found napping in the shade with the birds behind the backstop.

WEEK 2 CLUES AND WINNERS

HUGH SMITH REC. CENTER

1. East-Central Arlington's the place for you, to start your search for Buddy a'new!
2. Arkansas, Division, somewhere in between. Get to the creek and head further east.
3. Trying to make the big time? This city's for you. But if you're looking for Buddy, just check the avenue.
4. Last night at 6:15 pm, Buddy gave us a call. He said something about being where they've got it all.
5. If you're out at the park and think you're cooking, inside is where you should be looking.
6. Get to the rec. center and walk inside, as you open the doors check your 9.

WEEK 1 CLUES AND WINNERS

RANDOL MILL PARK

1. Head to the northwest section of Arlington to rent a pavilion!
2. This park was originally purchased in 1953 with plans of making it a place to park your tee!
3. Want to play softball? Come one, come all!
4. Take a stroll around the fishing hole.
5. Just south of I-30 and west of Fielder, you’ll spot a fisher!
6. Don’t swim past the mill!
7. Near the back of the park, find the island of bark!
